Today is 2 years and 7 months in recovery. Notice I didnt say clean time. There is a difference. Anyone can get clean time. Its a little harder to get recovery time. I do it one hour at a time and sometimes one minute at at time. Na works and it is simple! Come join me today in recovery!
So is "recovery time" as much or more than "clean time"? I assume recovery time includes times of relapse only when one has genuinely been "in recovery" (?) as opposed to just being "dry" but not in recovery? I was clean and (I believe) definately in recovery as a heavy-duty addict for 3 years before realizing an alcohol problem and picking up an AA white chip ...so I figure my recovery time is actually longer than the sobriety date that I use now, since I only use the date of my last drink/white chip (ie. I subtracted those first 3 years of being drug-free). Not that it matters...all I have is today!! And grateful for it.

Just like you said.... we only have today! For me my recovery date is from the time I started living the 12 steps and the traditions in my life with no relapses in between. I too am grateful for today. Who knows what will happen tommorow. NA has really changed my life.
