I have been on line looking for meeting for my young friend. She just got out of rehab and needs the NA program, but I feel like she will do better if she can go to a group of kids her own age. We live in the Kansas City area. Any suggestions would be great!
Staying clean is pretty challenging. I can understand her wanting to be around people her own age but Finding women with years of clean time may be her best shot. I suggest that you call your area hotline and explain the situation. They may have an answer for you.
hello hopefulsurrender! welcome to the family!! you know its funny,my 23 year old son(heroin addict in recovery hated groups ,kids his own age, despised NA, time in TC'S,REHAB'S.TRANSITION PROGRAMS.JAILS ETC.,but december 23, 2009 he asked if he could attend a meeting with me and has been coming ever since.I BELIEVE HE IS HEARING MORE FROM ALL AGES OF US WHO SUFFER FROM THIS DISEASE.Whatever it takes to "show up"Also dont forget this a a program for people who "want it and not necessarily need it'.I am seeing my son starting to incorporate this into his life now.I agree with Don, you have to listen for a sponsor and it more than likely would be a person older than she is if there is plenty of clean time....One addict helping another is without parallel but l would be careful not to let her recovery be geared on what you think is best for her.We all have to find our way,its part of the process.,support her and share your ESH ,but she has to do the 'work" NICE MEETING YOU,KEEP COMING BACK

thanks for the suggestions all. I will do as you guys have listed. I do not have enough clean time to be her mentor, as she wants, but she will go to meetings with me. I appreciate all of the replies and encouragement!
