QOD 1/4/10

There`s an area in Ohio that has a policy of no children at area functions , what are your thoughts on this policy ?

no It's probably not good, because the parents of those children might need recovery to be a better parent than they are in active addiction. But that's a group or area conscience thing. Some meeting places don,t have a place for kids to play,or parents should take turns watching the children. It a hard one to call if you don't know all the information.smile

I have mixed feelings about children at NA meetings.   I understand that a mom may need recovery and must bring a child with her.  But,
they are often disruptive, and even if well behaved meetings tend to revolve around the needs of the child.
The newcomer is the most important person at a meeting.
That's often hard to do when children are in the room.

I think it sucks. If a meeting is "open" then anyone is welcome, irregardless of age, race, sex, creed, religion, or lack of religion.

I've seen as many so-called grown-ups at meetings being disruptive as I have children!

Most meetings that have a lot of kids attending usually say something in the format reminding parents to control their children.

One meeting that I used to attend had a sign up saying, "Any unattended children will be given an expresso and a puppy."
