Do you believe that people with substantial clean time are held to a higher standard than newer people ?

Then a new comer ? absolutely, but we all have natural instincts that run wild at times, that is an ongoing inventory even for the old farts LOL.

None of us be saints no matter how much clean time.

smile    Even if they are,we are all addicts .Complacency I would say is more dangerous to some one with twenty years than someone with two years. We are all addicts on the same level ,we were addicted to something . Idol worshipping can be good but dangerous, they are only human.yawn

I don't think they are "held" to a higher standard,
but I do think that many, certainly not all, reflect a deeper understanding of the program, have gained more serenity, and share a more complete message of recovery.
I always marvel at people who claim years of clean time, yet when they share they are just as full of self centered ego dripping goo as the rawest newcomer.

I do think that sometimes is underlying feeling in some of the beginners meetings around my area..",last night an addict shared that we are all newcomers as today is the first time any of us have seen December 24th 2009,(last night the 23rd /09)therefore it is new to all of us.pretty cool  thought pattern. One of my favorite writings  from our literature"says "complaceny is the enemy of those with substantial clean time,if we are complacent for too long recovery then ceases!! Puts things in perspective...progression of recovery is an uphill journey, when we fail to make the effort ,we start back down the hill!!,progression of the disease is ongoing process even when we are abstinent. 20 minutes or 20 years  I believe if w aint workin it,it will "cease"in one form or another. Its relatively easy to 'HEAR SOMEONE EITHER 'GOD' CENTERED OR SELF CENTERED.We are a rough mixture of people at all different levels of recovery no matter how much clean time we have, clean time does not equal recovery but hopefully brings bout a more rigorous application of the program..Higher standard,I would hope not, exuding spiritual principles and a clear NA message,I would hope so,,,,...smile
