Hey Family,check this out..... Last night they took my sons girlfriend to hospital,heroin overdose,sent to psych center wanted to commit suicide.Shes okay ,maybe get help she needs,probation looking for her,tired of shooting dope and going nowhere(26 yrs.old)anyway most of you know my situation with my son(23yrs) heroin addict in recovery(methadone for now)dead set against working a program blah ,blah NA etc.Well anyway says to me after his intensive in house program (part of methadone maintenance )he has to work thru the clinic."dad you making a meeting tonight"?So i say well wednesdays I usually dont make one ,why?.He says well I was gonna go with you,so I say yup 6;30 FAMILY PARTNERSHIP,GREAT LOW KEYED MEETING WE'LL BE THERE..For an addict one of the most rewarding things can be bringing another to a meeting,for a father bringing a son ,for the first time, to a meeting is a God send..Where will this lead?Only God knows that and I know he is responsible for his own recovery.We will not make meetings together going forward as that will be his desire to "go to work"I could not have asked for a better Christmas gift if I had thought about it..I am also far enough along to realize I cannot count on others to validate where I am,but this is an awesome first step for a father and son and 2 addicts trying to find a"new way to live"These last 3 to 4 years have been trying but I never gave up faith and thanks to the spiritual principles of Narcotics Anonymous and the power of the God of my understanding I KNOW THE 'MESSAGE IS HOPE AND THE PROMISE IS DEFINITELY FREEDOM1.Thanks I needed to share that so that I can continue to 'get well. peace

Thats great news your son wanting to make a meeting and maybe the girl will get an idea of what her future looks like using dope and will try and stop too, takes what it take.
