Sponsorship...

I'm curious about everybody's "take" is on the issue of Sponsorship.

Do you have a Sponsor?

Why or why not?

What does your Sponsor do for, or mean to you?

Do you Sponsor others?

Why or why not?

What does Sponsoring others do for, or mean to you?

What is your experience with online or phone & snail- mail Sponsorship?

I'm currently on my 3rd Sponsor, the 1st 2 having left the program and relapsed.

My Sponsors have been kind of a "safety valve" for me, when in over my head mentally or emotionally, I'd call my Sponsor and she would help me make sense of my thoughts and emotions.

My Sponsor is my confessor, the one I tell all my shameful secrets to, the one whom I call when I've screwed up and don't know how to fix it.

My Sponsor is my best friend... the first person I want to call with any joys or sorrows in my life... the one I laugh and cry with.

I have a Sponsor to help me keep myself from self-deceit, to be my eyes and ears, to call me out on my $h!t, to be a guide through the Steps, to keep me accountable, and to have one person in whom I can unquestionably trust.

I have Sponsored many women in the program, although I was a Sponsor in name only to most.

Often women would ask me to Sponsor them, then I'd never see them again. Most Sponsees I've had don't call or work Steps, and most go back out. It hurts, but it's a reality of this program.

On the rare occasions when I had Sponsees that called, worked Steps, and really wanted to stay clean, they have been a joy to me, and an unparalelled benefit to my own recovery.

I Sponsor because I want to give back what was so freely given to me.

I have no experience with Sponsorship online or by phone & snail-mail only, but I would really like to know more about it.

I have had 7 different sponsors in these nigh on 22 years.
All of different personality and persuasions.

The common denominator has been this;
they have guided me through the 12 Step recovery Program of Narcotics Anonymous !

Hey Tisa, how are you? yes i have a great sponsor.we work steps together and we help each other in "life on life' situations. He has been a blessing in my trials with my son.I AM SUBBING FOR A COUPLE GUYS WHILE THERE SPONSORS ARE UNAVAILABLE.fOR ME BEING ABLE TO OFFER SUGGESTIONS to others and possibly guide them as I have been guided is what the program is about for me..I have a very strong faith and the steps are additions to my faith beliefs only now I have others to call me on how I live. Have a blessed day!

I go to a few meetings with some real old timers one old fart has 40 years others are in the high 20's but you know what we ALL STRUGGLE we just dont flippin use and we get to meetings and share and listen, everyone in the rooms has sponsors and grand sponsors on and on , its good seeing the guys all doing well and getting through lifes junk yard of crap , everyone is supportive and helpful just have to reach out ahd ask for help and tell them what you need and want. In one meeting they have a show of hands of who is looking for sponsors and a show of hands who's willing to sponsor, half the room of guys will be sponsors its pretty damn awesome

I am not ready to sponsor guys yet but in some ways i do i have some friends and we all use each other for support, we give and get I do plan on getting on with H& I this month and start  doing that though.
