then and now

I was thinking today about how different my life is now. I remember my last day of using. I lived in an abandoned house in the inner city with my girlfriend, who was tricking, and our 2 children. We all slept on a dirty mattress on the second floor of a house with no electricity or water, just a bucket to use for a bathroom. There were days when nobody ate because all our money went to getting more....and more.....enough was never enough. 2 days ago we had a  party for our sons 1 year birthday. It is so awesome to be able to be here for him, in our house. I was able to get him all kinds of toys, and he is able to keep them. We have food in the fridge, lights on and heat...not to mention running water. And to think, there was a time when none of that would have been possible. I am really grateful today!

Then ands now can be like 2 different worlds glad you've found a better world to live in today vanleer.

Keep hold of that gratitude that is one of the tools i use when things are bleak and troubling, helps me stay focused on my agenda which is to stay clean no matter what.

Thanks, Van, for reminding me where I came from and where I choose not to return just for today.
