I am thankful for the river that I can never stand in twice but go to every day to look at the eagles wet their wings.
I am thankful for the comfort of solitude and the water.
I am thankful for the eagles and all other natural things who have purity of heart.
I am thankful to Isaiah who gives me strength, who wrote in in his 40th chapter But they that wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
I am thankful for the river flowing to the peace they told me would be beyond all understanding.
I haven't found it yet, but at least I'm thankful today, I'm floating and not drowning.
I am thankful for the god Tlaloc, that I pray to each and every day in thanksgiving for his daughter who led me to a deeper understanding.
I am thankful for the rain that washes away the dusty sadness, and I am thankful for the rain each and every day. I am thankful for the washing of away of bitterness and sorrow and the cleansing of a new Earth. I am thankful for a more beautiful day. I am thankful for forgiveness. I am thankful that I can forgive.
I am thankful for my memories, sweet and bitter.
I am thankful I at least have an open heart.
I am thankful I at least took a chance at true love.
I am thankful for the safety of the person I love, I am thankful to know they are still alive even though I know I will never be able to touch them again. I am thankful that I genuinely love them, regardless of the circumstances. I am thankful for the ability to love and be loved.
I am thankful for the mercy shown to me by all the other addicts that have saved my life when I was at my worst, at the edge of the building looking down on the city with no one else to turn to except my loneliness and addict self.
I am thankful for everyone who has taken care of me and shown me love.
I am thankful for the simple food that God provides for me regardless of the circumstances.
I am thankful for my pain as It helps me understand the ministry of the crucifixion and helps me appreciate the sacrifices of my savior.
I am thankful for sacrifice.
I am thankful for my mentors, here at this board and at my home group. If you sorry sacks of shit can make it thru this then, then why can't this sorry sack of shit make it as well?
I am thankful I can still laugh.

I am thankful for the scars on my flesh because they show me where I have been, and where I am going.
I am thankful for the dreams I shared once with my beloved.
I am thankful for the love of a small child and the innocence in their eyes.
I am thankful that there is the possibility of a loving future even though I'm realistic about the chances which are slim, but I am still thankful for that 1 in one million chance it will all work out. One in one million is better than zero in one million. At least there is still a chance, and I am thankful for that.
I am thankful for lost causes, and for people that still believe in them.
I am thankful for that spark of life which I struggle to keep alive each and every day, but I am also thankful for the struggle.
I am thankful for the blue eyes that gave me a window into beauty I never imagined possible. I still look at them through the landscape of memory and see an ocean of sweet innocent dreams yet unrealized. I am thankful that those sweet innocent dreams are still alive and full of ambition.
I am thankful for my reflection on the water because it keeps me real. I am only human, and the reflection on the water teaches me to love.

that's a pretty long list. Mine usually includes gratitude for a place to live, food eat, arms, legs, eys, ears, heart and mind, and lungs that still work, a way to get around (car) , employment, health, my HP providing all that I need a daily basis so that I don't have to be afraid.
