Hello Raven and Free2008. The online meetings and message boards are a great suppliment to a recovery program but cannot replace going to local NA meetings and interacting with a group, sponsor etc.... Are the two of you going to NA meetings?
Hi Raven, Free2008 and Dean. I'm very new to online too. I do go to reg NA meetings Dean it was nice of you to mention the importance sorry they didn't reply. people get busy guess that is part of what I will be learning and seeing about on line Replies will come when they do. Still some addict behavior immediate gratification. LOL on line is different! I have a sponsor and a home group. When I travel for work it is some times hard for me to get to reg meeting and on line was mentioned a few times by people that new people who used on line when they where in more remote area's So do we say where we are from? I noticed people have pic's of them self is it better or not to do that? Should we use avtars like you Dean?
Miracles in Progress has been my constant companion for the last five years in my recovery. It has been a great place to share without constraints and has served me as a great addition to "live meetings" wherever I am.
I have found that in sharing and reading and responding to the sharing of others, I have formed close associations with other recovering addicts, whose insights and judgements I have come to respect and value.
The most importanat thing is that I have recieved guidance for recovery and growth,,, needless to say, that has made my recovery a good one,,, worth keeping on with !

Hello Dd, and welcome to our message board. You can choose how anonymous that you would like to be. I think that disclosing one's location (generally) gives other posters a sense of where you're coming from and has a grounding affect. There are a lot of people that live in small towns (or on islands) that probably have concerns.
Using photos and disclosing location or other identifying stuff has to be based on what you feel safe and comfortable with, keeping in mind that there's no guarentee anywhere at anytime that anyone is 100% safe. Curious---why doesn't your boyfriend want you to reach out to this site?

because he thinks that this is pointless and a waste of time i guess he doesnt understand addiction but he knows that i have a severe drug problem and maybe a drinking problem aswell
thanks... i have been clean for a few months so i am on the right track but i am a recovering meth addict and pretty much a drug garbage can ... Na saved my life and helped me and i just need 2 start going back 2 meetings to sstay sober
