Every group should have a group policy to address issues like this. The group booklet from NA World might be helpful. I've never known of a group where a member doesn't have a vote other than the chairperson at a business meeting who breaks ties.

Hi Mike,,,
Are you saying that in your group only those who identify as "home group" members are allowed to vote /
If this is the case then you are right.

Basically a group conscience is centered around what home group members consider as representing their collective wisdom.

This process therefore excludes members who also vote in other groups.
In order to afford fairness to all concered, a member has the right to vote only in the decisions of one and only one group.

And like Jana said, there are literature that reflect this.

also remember that the higest decision making authority in all of NA is the group; and the way to those decisions is group conscience.
This may be reffered to in the 12 Concepts.

Hi Mike,

make it a point to show this rule in the literature to this person asap to keep them from spreading their resentment. I also believe that you can vote on such a rule through your group conscience meeting. All groups are autonomous in matters that govern the group. I think that it's perfectly fair to have such a rule.
Remember that addicts are amongst the most controlling people and that's what causes most of the problems. Good luck

Yeah what everyone said except to finish Deans 4th tradition  EXCEPT in matters affecting other groups or NA as a whole.  If your claming more than one home group thats fine. You can even attend the buisness meetings of muliple home groups. But voting in more than one group especially in the same area or region can skew the numbers.
This is the kind of stuff that NAWS and the WSO love to sink thier teeth into. If we cannot be honest and responsible with our group, area and reginal voting , We could lose the rights to do it at all....
