Nurse searching for work

I am currently completing Intensive Outpatient Therapy. My days are soon to be free, and I need work. Any suggestions for East Central Florida/Cocoa area jobs?

should be plenty. My son's grandmother is a nurse in Cocoa (if she's not retired) and they were in high demand, she got paid well for OT in the ICU.

If you were able to escape the consequence of your license being affected, I can't imagine you'll have a problem. I'm sure there are Nurse Finder agencies that could get you right to work. Hell, Monster.com probably has a million job listing for nurses. You guys are in pretty high demand.

Just keep coming back and get a charter membership to the "NO MATTER WHAT" club! Meaning we don't use NO MATTER WHAT! You worked hard for that license. It could be gone with the next high! Use meetings and a sponsor and the steps and a higher power and all the tools this program offers and your career and your life in general will be A-OK!

HUGS and Welcome!

I am facing signing a 5 year contract with IPN with following conditions;

quarterly monitoring reports indefinitely to be written by employer
random same day notification urine tox samples
no administering narcotics 1 year
no work from agencies, hospice, self-employment, home care
weekly "support group" 120 mi round-trip from my home

I am very disheartened at this point. I have completed daily tx in intensive outpatient therapy past 3 months

I am reaching out to other recovering "nurses"
participating in Florida's IPN program. If there is someone familiar with my dilemma, please respond.

What's to be disheartened about? You still have your license and an opportunity to work. If you stay clean and follow through with the contract obligations (which are in your best interest) you'll have no problem.  We all have to deal with "the wreckage of our past". It's part of our story and who we are/were/will be if we don't stay clean one day at a time. No one likes ultimatums but hopefully this is your bottom, and if so, then   it's way better than a lot of others that did jails, institutions, and death. This disease kills people. The way I see it, this is a glorified slap on the wrist with a stern message of further consequences.  They could have taken your license.   Best advise is to accept it and realize that this is possibly saving your life in a number of ways. Try being grateful and look for the positive in it. How's the NA meetings, sponsorship, and working of the steps going? smile.gif Not everyone gets clean and sober on thier first try. Only 1 in 20 stay clean.  It took me two years to "get it".  If I'd had something like you have, hanging over my head, I might have gotten it sooner.  With that said,  I suggest that you work as hard as possible on your recovery, because you probably won't get a second chance on your license.  It's recommended that people go to 90 meetings in 90 days to get their recovery going.  I didn't miss a meeting for the first 3.5 years.  That's how badly I wanted it, and I was able to stay while the other 19 left to make that possible.  I sincerely wish good luck in your new adventure.

Dean

My mom sister and dad are nurses, I'm still 3 years from my RN license.

Though it may seem like a tough situation, Dean is right, my Nursing instructor knows I'm in recovery, and each time they print the new disciplinary actions for Nurses in Oregon she hands me a copy, 90% of them lose their licenses because of alcohol/drugs/meds, you are very fortunate to still have your license. If I was in your situation I'd be having the same feelings, I need other people to help me see the good in situations a lot of the time.
