hello!

i'm new
young
sober date 2/24

this is my second shot at recovery, i relapsed. hard and long.
so two years later, i'm feeling stronger and more dedicated
and i really need this

but being young, it's hard to find people to connect with...not enough of us are serious about recovery, nor can i find those who may be.
and i've had issues adjusting (of course)

i'm not sure what i'm looking for
but here i am.

Hi Pjammy,

welcome back and to the board. You've found out that this is a program for people who want it.

welcome pj.... When i came into recovery i was solely concentrating on finding young people in the rooms.... and at that time there wasnt many.  What i discovered was that it seemed like everyone was at my age mentally.   They say that we stop mentally maturing when we first pick up dope so when we put it back down , it can almost seem like we are at that age again.  Today i have plenty of friends at many different ages, i learned to judge someone cause of their age......

i shouldn't focus on age...and i don't, usually....

i guess i just wanted a little more of a network
age isn't the issue

but these past few weeks have been giving me a run for my money

I attend meetings where I'm the youngest person by about 20 years maybe. At first I thought this would make things weird but when you think about it the experiences with recovery are actaully very similar regardless of age. I'm 23 btw, don't know if that helps. Older people also tend to have more experience, so I would suggest listening to what they say. Do you go to meetings where you live?

yep, Road to Recovery
i'm also in a relapse prevention group at the hospital nearby
it's not much...just twice a week, but i'm in school and working full time so i do what i can to get by

it's not that i don't listen and gain from these people, but i'm more in the search for friends my age...
i dropped all of the "friends" i needed to to be able to keep clean
but it's lonely! and i'm all about admitting that.

thanks winston, i'm 19

Winston you sound to be on a good path.

I had a guy i met a few years back who was in his early 30's who had quite a few years  clean at that time he had gotten clean in his teens so it can be done, if you want it bad enough.

Keep coming and sharing with us
