My Name is Blake C and I am an Addict...

First of all  thank you for having me here. As I said, My name is Blake and I am an addict. I have never been to an NA meeting because of where I live and my transportation or lack thereof, however I was introduced to AA through my treatment program and have been attending five meetings a week. I did have some problems with the alcohol and have definitely committed to abstaining from all mood altering substances.

My drug of choice was dexedrine and I had a dream last night. I had this dream about the drugs I still have waiting for me at the pharmacy. In my dream I fell in love all over again. Now I went through the steps in treatment with respect to my amphetamine (dexedrine) abuse and the miracle has come to pass but this dream haunts me this morning. It is the dream of a lost love and I needed to be among you. Thank you for my time clean and serene.

Hello Blake and welcome! great first post. I also got here through the backdoor and dexedrine is part of my story. I also have a re-occurring dream about using, waking up in the dream and my mind says that I relapsed anyway before the dream (dream inside of a dream how annoying smile.gif ) Thankfully I only have the dream about once every couple years instead every couple months like I used to .

Hey Blake

Thanks for sharing about your dream. I have using dreams sometimes, too. They're weird sometimes, scary sometimes, and sometimes shake me up for a few days. The bottom line, though, is that they are only dreams. They are not reality.

I'm curious about your prescriptions that are waiting for you. Is there anything that can be done to get rid of them? Do you have a sponsor who can help you figure that out? If I had drugs waiting for me somewhere, I'm afraid I would spend a lot of time thinking about them. Whether consciously or subconsciously, it would still be on my mind.

All the best to you, Blake. It's good to have you here.

Blake, just wanted to stop by and say hello and stop having dreams of me...lol I am a co-dependent of an addict. I was married to a 34 years addict. His dreams were Meth and pot. I seen him a month ago and sadly he's still abusing his drugs and he's been through 18 months drug diversion programs and it didn't work for him. Just hang and replace what you think is a dream with something else maybe a hug, cry, laughter or smiles...

I'm told that these types of dreams are very common. I used to have them all the time when I first stopped using. I'd wake up terrified because the dreams were so real that I had a hard time figuring out if I had actually used the night before. Now they are much less frequent, but still happen every now and then. I wouldn't think of it as a set back in your recovery, it's just your brain dealing with a drastic change.
