A friend passed away, food for thought...

Last week my friend's wife passed from breast cancer.

She had two young children, she was so truly beautiful.

She never asked for breast cancer and fought to the death.

It made me think of all the stupid risks I took with my own health, how pathetic it would be to get a disease that I caused myself when others would have switched places with me in a heartbeat just to have a CHOICE to live instead of a death sentence.

How lucky we all are to have the choice for a healthy life. If you are here you are making the right choice.

To my friend may she rest in peace and I am so grateful that she is helping me in my journey without ever knowing it.

So sorry for your loss and sadness. It is honoring to your friend that you will continue in your sobriety with her in your heart.

It was the death of my best using buddy that helped me turn the corner in my recovery. The 2oth anni of his dealth is next month on the 29th. I plan on visiting his memorial this year to thank him again (thanks Ronnie). He was only 28 and had said many times that he wasn't going to make it to age 30, which unfortunately became a self fulfilling prophesy.
