Hi guys, Been awhile since I posted I need to get on some more.
Im at 8 months and 15 days without using any drugs. Im not going to go into all the miracles that have graced me. They are numerous and I am grateful.
I notice a few newcomers struggling a bit in here. Id like to tell all of you welcome to the boards. You are loved and understood here. There is hope for us all. The life you have fought so hard against or for with the use of drugs can change dramatically. Miracles happen , And if you follow the suggestions they WILL happen for you.
I want to share the latest " God feeling " Ive gotten lately.
My youngest son is 20 years old, so of course his friends are all in that age range. They all know I play guitar and thier visits for small lessons have become looked forward to by me. Im no player but I know a couple chords and I enjoy passing them on. Two days ago the kids stopped by hauling in the guitars and we all sat around swapping ideas and having fun.
This might not seem like a big deal to most of you, But for me its another miracle. You see 8.5 months ago in my self obsession I couldnt have given these kids the time of day. They cut into my using and made me paranoid. I had no patience for thier BS.
But today I make time and I enjoy it. There is one friend my son has who is disabled. At least the world calls it disabled. I call it abled-differently. He was born with no left arm. He sat quietly while we all played the guitars. One of the kids made a comment about how Nathan hated them all playing guitars because it left him out. GOD FLASH
I asked him about his prosthetic . He dosent like to wear it. Its clumsy and he feels draws attention to him. I asked him to bring it to me. The prosthetic comes with a rubber boot. Nathan has the top part of his arm.it ends above the elbow. The boot goes over the stump then the fake arm goes on the boot.
The boot was I felt workable. I had him put it on and made some marks. Checked it, made more marks , checked it again. Had him checkin his range and his movement the whole time. Making sure my marks would cover all the strings.
By this time I knew I was on to something. I risk humbleness by telling you how good I was feeling. Something special was happening. I am vigilant enough in this program to know GOD was working.
After all the marking was done I took his boot and cut a slit in it. stuck a pick in it and did some trimming.
I got a chord chart out and showed him something easy. An E major for the guitar buffs. One of my sons plays left handed so I got his guitar and handed it to the boy. The rest of them were already hard at work getting E major down pat.
There were never any drugs that gave me the feeling I got when that boy took that guitar and strummed his first ever chord. GOD FLASH
Im a drug addict . And my god has kept me alive . Sometimes I dont know why. Until times like this one. These things happen for a reason.
So for all you newcomers..Hang in there. Its worth it.
