DAY TWO for me, please stay with me

Hello, Got through yesterday 1 with one set back. Usually it would have been about 14+ setbacks. I know it is not abstinence but I think it was a good day.

I am flip flopping today between feeling great about doing this to wanting to go backwards and wishing I had never opened my eyes.

But as I read all of your posts I feel so NOT alone. I think I can do it if you stick with me!

Thanks everyone, peace to you all. You are all soooooo brave and i have so much admiration!

Congrats! You are not alone... Keep coming back and you will make it. Its better to let it all out in here rather than use like we use too. We are all your venting board. Have a super clean day!

Emily we Welcome you and know how hard it is at first , heres some lines from our literature.

We begin to treat our addiction by not using. Many of us sought answers but failed to find any workable solution until we found each other. Once we identify ourselves as addicts, help becomes possible. We can see a little of ourselves in every addict and a little bit of them in us. This insight lets us help one another. Our futures seemed hopeless until we found clean addicts who were willing to share with us. Denial of our addiction was what had kept us sick, and our honest admission enabled us to stop using. The people of Narcotics Anonymous told us that they were recovering addicts who had learned to live without drugs. If they could do it, so could we.

We all started with that first day its rough it stays rough for awhile but it passes, just have to be willing to stay the course and stay clean .

If you want to read more literature here is some of the book and the chapters.

You did OK Emily. Today, no setbacks! We don't use, NO MATTER WHAT. It's not easy but it's VERY simple. If I don't put it in my body, I don't get high and I begin the recovery process. GET TO A REAL HUMAN BEING OCCUPIED MEETING!

Hugs!

Hi Emily,
The Basic Text also says the though we as addicts are same in kind,we do as individuals
differ in degree of sickness and rate of recovery"

I have used this as a way of coping with differences I percieved along the road to recovery.
When iw as in treatment on several occassions,I had always wondered how these other addicts seem to be up and about early. Then in NA I was amazed at how addicts came in,cleaned up and became able to cope with life on lifes terms and become very successful in life early in recovery.

I now realize that because of several very blown out, very stoned drug experiences and theri effects on my mind and conciousness, I may never be able to think like ordinary people do.

I do not set out to establish myself as superior to other types of human beings.
All Im saying is that we addicts are indeed unique and never will be like normal people.
However,we will as individuals have varying degrees of success with
1. Staying clean and
2. Becoming responsible and productive members of society.
All the best,a day clean is a day won, and even one day clean is one day won.

Congratulations for making it as far as you have. You are steps ahead of many and making progress.   Always strive for more but don't forget to give yourself credit when it is due.  Good luck and stay strong.

Passing on something that I found in my inbox today... reading it was very soothing and reassuring for my otherwise anxious nerves... gave me lots of strengh and hope...

There are small candles of light we can bring into our lives to take away some of the darkness. These are the candles of the program - soft, warm lights given to us each time we open our faith and trust to the fellowship.

There is the candle we can take home from a meeting, kindled by the caring and sharing of those around us. There is the candle given to us by our sponsors and friends, which burns brighter each time we ask for help. And there is the candle given to us by our Higher Power - an eternal light reflecting strength, hope, and salvation.

It's true that it's darkest before the dawn, but we have countless candles to brighten our night.
