Hi guys,,I need your help on an assignment. Instead of writing about this or that usual stuff,,Ive decided that in my research in event studies I will henchforth be using all that NA has to offer.
And for this particular assignment Im writing on Clean Events. Please help me by replying to this post by listoing events in your area or region and how many times a year it is done. This can include Conventions,Workshops and learning days,dances and balls, campouts and retreats, getogethers, picnics,etc.
It will also help to give me a rough idea of how many attend these events.
Ill be very greatful.Thanks in advance.

So the area is Central Lakes (ontario, canada) Jan- new years dance feb- unity day fundraiser dance, card tournament, speaker, pot luck May- ORCNA(ontario region convention of na) June- unity day September- Baseball and barbeque October- halloween dance , poster day december- gratitude meetings,with pot luck
now during the summer there are many camp outs held by places just outside the area... like guelph camp out, subury camp out , london camp out, sherton shore camp out

Hi Raman, Central Indiana Area, Indiana Region, USA Our Activities Sub-commitee sponsors 6 main events each year, plus 6 Marathon Meetings on the major holidays, New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July (Independence Day), Labor Day (1st Monday in September) Thanksgiving Day (3rd Thursday in November) and Christmas. Marathon Meetings are designed for newer members who may not be able to be around family due to using going on at home or they might not be welcome at home currently due to using behaviors. Marathon Meetings are usually discussion or speakers every hour from about 8 am until about 11 pm.
The Main Events include but are not limited to: A Valentine's Day Dance (Feb 14th), The Spring Fling (a Festival with cook-out, sports events, games, and usually an out of town speaker), a summer camp-out, a Halloween Party (costume optional) a Mini-Conference (one day event like a convention), and a combination H&I and Public Relations learning day.
In addition, we have a regional convention every Feb-Mar and a Central Indiana Area Convention every September. Attendance for both conventions is around 450 registered and an additional 400-500 unregistered attendees.
The other events attendance will vary from a few dozen to a couple hundred members.

Our big events are new years, memorial day, valentines day, and our christmas dinner. I am in illinois. memorial day is our river run. They have canoeing, camping 3 days, speakers, and lots of other fun. It is the best time to meet new peeps. We started our christmas dinner this year to give recovering addicts a place to go on that day. We cook and have a speaker and just have a great time when most of us are depressed. I always look forward to the events...
Thanks Dan and Marigold. Im delighted with the information. I am basically compiling these events into a database.
The basic premise here is that clean events offer as much(if not more) fun and festivity as compared to events where alcohol/etc. is served. People dont have to be iontoxicated or have anything but the event itself to enjoy their leisure.

pacific west coast...baseball teams with a big camp-out tournament in penticton, it includes a dance, meetings, lots of fun...picnics in the summer is common..lots of summer camping events..one big convention near an airport hotel gets a huge turnout..dances for new years, valentines, halloween is lots of dances....(we love to do the costume thing) dont have the the current list handy so thats just the regular stuff...fun in recovery is important. i love this idea of of yours Raman. god bless you
