Hi, I am not sure how much to introduce myself so please ask if you need to know anything about me. Name's Andy & I am basically trying to figure out if I belong in NA and/or AA. I know I have something of a self-medication problem, but I don't know how much is booze and how much is other stuff. I started to look for help because none of it is really working any more, meaning I used to be able to escape myself using certain chemical combinations, but lately I just feel slightly less sick when I'm binging than when I have no supply. So there you have it, my life is unmanageable. I'm still a little suspicious of this "higher power" talk though.

Secondly, is this board confidential, or should one be careful about what one admits to here? For example do the site admins frequently delete server logs that could tie a username to an IP? If there's a FAQ section please send me there. Thanks.

Welcome Andy, glad you found us. Big V may be able to answer your technical questions. I don't know tech stuff to much. I do know that our literature talks about how people who are NOT addicted don't waste their time wondering if they have a drug problem. If you are wondering if you might be an addict, there is a good chance that you might belong here. All you have to do is just give yourself a break and keep coming long enough to make an informed decision. This is a vitally important decision so try not to be to quick to decide...take all the time you need. There is no rush, take your time. Thanks again for posting and try to find some face to face meetings in your area. There you will find answers to many of your questions. Good Luck and be easy....

Hi Andy and welcome.

The most I can do here as admin is ban members from posting and delete post or threads I am  not sure what the servers can do but i'm sure they can read IP address's if they needed to or were requested by Big Government most places are that way as far as I know but your IP is safe from public access.

I think you've pretty much answered your own question about your addiction situation and your the one who decides whether you need help or not. Dan spelled it out well, we have lots of literature that will help you understand just where you stand, take what fits and what doesn't keep an open mind too, like a high power this program works when you stay clean keep an open mind are willing and honest and have a desire to stay clean. Alcohol is a drug too so keep that in mind, I was also an alcohol user along with hard drugs soft drugs any drugs LOL.

That's easy the answer is both. That's what I did. I'm Dean an alcoholic and an addict. smile.gif there is several of that post on both boards here at MIP. Welcome btw.
