I recently decided to leave a debate message board I was posting on for nearly a decade. It brought out a lot of my character defects and I made a decision to remove toxic stuff from my life, a piece at a time... It was, however, a HUGE time suck for me and I miss messaging with people and the time I spent doing it is now being better spent on work pursuits but it's still nice to have a diversion while I sit here at my desk all day.
What does everybody think about a committment to check in every day... Just a what's going on with me kind of post, and to reply to everyone who's checked in... Y'know, share experience, strength and hope.
I recently posted the link to here on our local Yahoo NA group and told people about it at a meeting Tues. night.
I'd love to see this place get buzzing! Errr, uhhmm... Humming! Yeah, that's the ticket! LOL

Here's my check in: I expect to see pigs flying any minute, for HE[ has definitely frozen over in Indianapolis!! It's so cold here the brass monkey left town with something in a sack over his shoulder!! It's so cold all our witches moved TO the Klondike!! I was shivering so bad that when I tried to tinkle and write my name in the snow, all I got was ;":~*%!!!
Good thing recovery doesn't depend on the weather, huh? At least I'm not running around out there trying to get "just one more" It's great to be clean and serene, Just for today.

Just spent 20 minutes on the phone with paypal trying to get accounts sorted out, it's nearly 11:30, I just bought 3 new paperbacks and I'm going to go to bed and read one... I have to be up at 6:30 to get two little boys to school (part of my story... I'm 51 years old with two sons, ages 5 and 8 - It's a wonder I'm NOT using! LOL) and we're supposed to wake up to cold as well... It was so cold today, a flasher walked up to me and described himself! yuk yuk

Is an "off" from work for me today (it's an Indian festival day today)... So, got up, spent some good time with my dear wifey... An old fellowship friend from my hometown had come down here... so went out to meet him, met another couple of members/friends... some more fun at the cafe... met 2 of my sponsees... came back and took my wife to the doctor as a follow-up for her regular health checkup... My wife cooked a special festive dish called "Pongal" for lunch. We both overate and are stoned right now on this delicious food... so I thought, why not check in here... so here I am...
I'm game for this suggestion... nice thread, keep posting all of ya... love you all, hugs.

Good thing Im in warm India for a holiday Dan. The cold in England and especially in the North of it is wicked ! The last afternoon i was ther I left Js house and got on the highway and 15 miles form Sheff. the car packs. God sake I had to wait 90 minutes for the recovery truck to arrive. And i was already freezing. It was - 6 the cops who was helping me phione up said. They also asked me not to get back in the car ! So what did i do ? God spoke to me and said "you cant do a thing about the cold so here goes,,I want you to keep walking up and down that bridge till recovery comes"
I did walk,walk,walk a strange place to work on a old defect called laziness. And when the truck comes I did another surprising thing,,,I left the car in the garage straight away,instead of dillydallying !
Yes I suppose pro-crastination is no longer a powerful force in my life,,the Steps take care of that !
Yes Jana, Ive come off another very weird forum that argued and debated. It was getting dangerous because they began berating the 12 Step Programs heavily and i decided to move. Been a good decision that !!
I suppose most areas round the world have conventions,workshops,dances and learning days or even meeting after meetings to liven things up. So I wonder what will be appropriate for this Forum. Ive done a bit of experimenting in this regard. I have shared personal life experiences in norder tyo show how my life hasnt been dull. But seeing as I dont see too much reciprocal sharings here to that effect have decided to do that sort of sharing elsewhere !
So who knows what someone will come up with so we can liven this Forum up ?
Personally it seems good nuff for me,, but thats my view only !

Jana, I forget the exact name but it was like FIR. Id love to see those chaps like Ray and all those other nitpickers get trapped here,,boy woul they get socked right into real,honest,clean recovery. Their main arguement was about numbers of addicts that cleaned up cause of NA,,whether NA realy works percentage wise , and whether you had to saty clean completely and continously to be called clean/sober. I decided to leave them to their insanity,,,,
