This is a very special anniversary to me.  I have been clean for 24 years.

I just turned 48, so I've now been in recovery for half my life.

HALF MY LIFE!

That's amazing.

My goal in the beginning, before I knew anything about "just for today," was to stay clean as long as I used.  Twelve years.  I figured if I gave them both equal time I would know for sure which I preferred.  I've now been clean twice as long as I used.  

Just for today, active recovery is my choice.

I've only been clean for like a tenth of my life! LOL

Congratulations BlitheSpirit, that's awesome!! If I live to be 100 I can be clean half my life, LOL. But I AM clean, just for today!! Thanks for sharing your successful recovery with us.

Thanks, everyone. It's a great day. I hope to pick up my medallion at my home group on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to that. Hopefully I won't lose the medallion as I sometimes do.

Congrats, that's totally amazing. I'm also forty eight. I came in the doors in '87 by was caught up in relapsing for 2 years. I also started using at 11 year old.

Anthony, you've brought a great energy to board. I'm so glad you're here.

Boondock - as for it getting easier, in some ways, yes. I don't have the crazy mood swings that I used to. My life problems have subsided. For example, I no longer have problems with the law. The steps and the process of recovery are somewhat easier in that I now have complete faith that it works. I know for sure from my own experience. I still have to be vigilant, though. I know that if I'm not, I can get myself into a jam that will set me up to use.
