Hi all. I was fortunate last nite,,at the turn of the year,,to be in the Liverpool New Years NA Party. Cold as eck and snowing outside,,but a fab warmth and Fellowship inside. True is that old saying "there are no strangers in NA,,only friends who have or havent met" I was blessed todo the New Year countdown,,and then blow Auld Lang Syne on my sax. And to a man,,to a woman they all 300 of them sang out strong and loud !!!! Reinforcin my favourite personal prayer "God Bles all the addicts wherever they maybe,,, Take our will and our lives, guide us in our recovery and show us how to live and enjoy life without the use of drugs" A warm hug to each and evry one of you here too !! May teh Force that keeps us Clean and Serene Just for today stay here with us in this wonderful Forum too !!! And buddy Vin,,thanks for keeping it going hre. Thanks Dean,Anthony,Shannon,Wilkens, Dan,Tahir,Blithe and Manon for being there,,, and I thank ye all others to,, I hope to get closer to each and every one this year !!

Thanks and same to you too Anthony and Alygat. Im at this moment struggling with getting another assignment completed. This ones a 2500 word report on Behaviour Modification and its really taxing my mind. Anxiety and worry about outcomes is offset by serenity and courage wen I concentrate in the here and now.

This brand new year is going to be crazy I already know. I just started a new job (first in three years) I'm working with addicts in the behavioral health field and it's very challenging. It's a lesson in boundaries and attraction not promotion. I can share how I got clean and am staying clean which is cool but some of these girls say they hate NA and they've never gone! I get it, I do. I've been there. It's hard when there's children involved and I see there precious little faces and I know their mommy is using. It's tough being on the other side of it, ya know? I've been that using mommy. Anyway this job is a Godsend; it shows me everday where I was and where I could be without daily surrender and maintenance. I guess God knows the type of addict I am! I would literally die without NA. I really would.
HAppy NEw Year Raman and I am blessed to be amongst many here and a few of the old timers like yourself and Tahir and others who keep showing up in support for all of us I am greatful.
The new year to me is a page on the calendar, life seems to pass slowly but to look back it seems to fly by. I age as I look in the mirror now I had been hoping i wouldn't see certain elderly details LOL but they come so my hope is to slow things down a bit this year and enjoy the moments that will one day be a memory.
Thanks Vin buddy,,if you dont know it yet let me be the first to say to you that you will make it in any circumstance,because you do work it and you are worth it. Thats fab Allie,wish you some hardcore Serenity,Courage and wisdom all year round in 2009 ! And my God,,youre doing Behaviour too,, what a beautiful co-incidence ! I have unconciously gone off on a slight tangent in my assignment,,away from classi Behaviour Modification and more towards Cognitive Behaviour Modification. The basic Principle in Force in my recovery,,ever since i got onto the 4th has been the belief that if i can change my thoughts ,then my attitudes change and then my actions and behaviours will certainly change for the better too. It seems basically a matter of determining to to do away with undesirable behaviour by increasing desirable behaviour ! My sponsor had taught me then that for change for the better to be effective,both sponsor and sponsee had to agree on what is and isnt desirable ! I believe that was the first time in my life i truly experienced partnership !!! thanks for letting me share and hope to hear morefrom your side Allie,,,please keep coming back !!

I like that Raman. It's all about replacement. Dope houses to meetings, dealers into sponsors, users into na friends, um... what else this is fun... sitting in the bathroom talking to myself turns into NA dances!? tha's a good one Yea once the recovery starts coming other not so tangible things start to be replaced. I'm starting to notice that. I like that I can replace undesirable behaviors by increasing my desirable behaviors. thats cool Thank YOu! I learn so much here from you guys...Duh its NA, right?
