I've been bumbling along with no drug use for over a year now in a small isolated town with no NA or AA meetings.

I'm so relieved to find a place like this where I can be with people who might understand me.

I'd really like to start working the steps but don't know how I can find a sponsor. I only know folks who are addicted.
Do you think I could find a sponsor to work the steps with on this forum one day? Is it ever possible to have a sponsor and work with phone calls and emails? Has anyone tried that? Does anyone on this forum help new people adn be their sponsor?

Now theres another site that has E-sponsors you will need to register there and get on the first page and section, there you will see a section for sponsorship, you will not see it if you don't register.

yes David,,it works,,I am the proof .
I had sponsors by snail mail when I first got clean.
Now it is a happy scene that it has worked all these years.
My sponsor now is also available mainly on email.we communicate on e mail at least twice a month if not more.
Im used to having far away sponsors,,
Tom,Sean, Bill, Roger, Diana and now Bob,,all have been emailers.
And with Bill,Gail,Brian,and Jeff it was snail mail all the way.
Outstanding that Jeff and I have a snail mail,later on email relationship for almost 20 years.
He died last year and God R.I.P.
In fcat i was in corrospondance with him nearly 16 years and hadnt even sen a photo of him.
Then we met when he came to Banaglore for the World Wide Workshop.
I cannot tranfer onto this typing, the thrill I had on meeting himin person and giving him a hug.
He was my longest standing associate in recovery .
So you know??
It works,,( like they say), if you work it.
Keep Coming Back.
Also I have sponsored a few on contingency basis and am willing to experiment with you too.

Greetings David, yes, it's possible to have an online Sponsor and to work the program with such a Sponsor through emails, phone calls and chatrooms. I've been doing that for more than 4 years now. Even my current Sponsor is an eSponsor.

hey DavidW, welcome and great news about your recovery. You couldn't go wrong by asking any one of the 3 guys above, to sponsor you. smile.gif I'd offer but I'm more of an AA guy, but I'll do what I can and I'll leave my email addy on your white board.
