HP at work

Just wanted to share what happened to me the other night.  Sometimes we need to look at the whole picture to understand why things happen.

Saturday after an amazing group anniversary my night took a strange turn of events. While walking to the subway station on the street there was a guy who went into a seizure. And I mean a bad one I've seen a few but not like this he was slamming his head on the ground and arching his back. There were some police around so hopefully they got him help in time. I saw that help arrived and there was nothing I could do to help so I went on my way. Then as I was going up the stairs after the subway my bus left with an hour before the next one. AARRGH. Ok Ill walk to the LIRR and catch the "Drunk Train" coming from the city. Most of the people on the train were people all fucked up going home from the clubs. Drunk, loud and obnoxious. Then there was a fight on the train right in front of me. I get off at my stop and of course the bus pulls away while I'm a half block away. So now I'm cursing and pissed off while walking home. (really not far at this point only a 10 min walk) Why is my night turning out like this. Actually thought about stopping at one of the many bars that I walked past on my way just to get the vision out of my head of that poor guy and praying that he lives. I started with the why me's, what else will go wrong? Was my higher power testing me? My concept doesn't test me so what the fuck!!!

Then I actually started smiling when I realized what was going on.

I saw the seizure to remind me that when I was in the hospital for detox I was on a 24 hour watch with an IV drip to keep me from going into detox seizures and dying. The group on the train was heading to the town where I used to hang out and get my drugs from. And lastly I missed the last bus so I can think about all this on the walk home. It was my higher powers way of saying to me "Do you really want THIS chaos back in your life?"

A spiritual awaking to end what was a confusing and challenging night.

The Just for Today meditation today is all about putting recovery first, sounds like thats what you did ryrym.

All the clammer of our days all the situations we find ourselves in all the people we cross paths with all the things that make us cringe and want to run or hide, all them feelings OH THOSE FEELINGS!! are passing moments that we naturally want to react to, but our recovery comes first. We try and keep our heads about us keep focused duringthese times and don't let it catch us off gaurd and make us powerless again.

We have got to stop,,,,take inventory and see our higher powers work in our lives and how these things make us grow.

Just for Today
