Hi Brian new to site myself but not new to the program of NA.  Welcome back and keep coming back.  I remember a few 24 hours ago how I struggled to get a few 5 minutes together, than a few days.  It does get better and you are in the right place.  Hugs not drugs today.

Thanks everyone, the support really means alot to me. For the last 6 years I have been hooked on opiate pain killers which lead me to alcohol (I would drink when pills were not avalible),I also dabbled in pot and speed(mini thins). I started my road to recovery 4 months ago and all was well until a few weeks ago when I hurt my shoulder and was given percocets which was a big mistake. I am now 4 days clean  and will take this one day at a time.

Stay vigilant your addiction lurks in the background waiting for an opportunity to pounce and ruin your life, you are responsible for not allowing that to occur and you do that by admitting powerlessness, asking for help, turning things over to a higher power, calling someone when you need to make a decision, going to meetings working the steps etc, etc.

Hang in there Brian sometimes we have to just let the pain pass without prescriptions, I am there all the time , try some ibuprophen on the likes.

Brian, I've found it always helpful to make a well-informed decision on medication and recovery to talk about it with my Sponsor, and other members who have had similar situations/experiences in recovery.

Building a support network including my family, Sponsor and other NA members who can relate with the situation, my doctor(s), Counselor, and most importantly working my program (Steps) on the situation to make an honest assessment as to whether I'm honest with myself and my commitment to staying clean - all this helped me in times of ailments/illnesses in recovery where it involved taking meds.

Also, reading this NA literature gave me direction too, you might want to read it too...
