Beginning.

Hey folks, im doing alot of reading lately, its time to get some of it off my chest . This may  be an excercise in total selfishness but im noticing a healthy influx of newcomers in here and maybe it can help them as  it seems to be helping me.

It seems after getting over the initial shock of " kicking " im ready to begin the process of recovery. Its frustrating because for me. I cant even start at the beginning. I have to start at PREPARING for the beginning. What a drag . But it is a process and at least i have that .

   WHY  START ?
there are many reasons to start the spiritual journey , possibly as many reasons as there are people who start it. But the basic motivation is rather ordinary and normal. The questioning intelligence and curiosity that is the birthright of each of us. We turn to the teachings and practicies of the great spiritual traditions when the time is right.Just like flowers bloom and rain falls when the time is right. The urge towards liberation is natural and often inevitable. We simply want to help ourselves live more fully , And we want to help others do the same .The " turning inward " in the beginning of a spiritual quest is  most often a result of living our lives with others in the world . and the result of that living can be inspiration enough for change.
( loose interpretation from " new age journal " )

    BEGINNNG.

MY start in this journey was an event that shook my understanding of this world. Changed my outlook and my priorities. That event is different for us all, in my case it was watching my children struggle with thier own addictions. That entry point hinted towards a more meaningful and brighter outlook for the future ( there HAS to be a better way )..I am haunted by my brighter glimpse and i hunger for more. For some of us that entry point is all we want to see. And that entry can be the occult, drugs, consciuous altering games of all types. This was me for many years. I always knew there was something more, But i stayed at the entry point of my journy. To afraid to go on.
( loose interpretation of " the aquarian conspiricy ")

Today i am not afraid .
Today i begin my quest for a better life .
Today i accept my birthright, as a fully funtioning ( most of the time) human being.
    Today, I live

Thanks for taking the time with me, comment if you want.
in closing ill choose to quote Confucius.
" In vain I have looked for a single man capable of seeing his faults and bringing the charge home , to himself "

Today I begin to be " capable"

Thanks Anthony,

There is nothing selfish at all with sharing wisdom.

I find that in my life, I stop one thing destructive to almost fall over something completely different but just as dangerous.
Thank you for reminding me not to side track.

Beautiful share, Anthony. I don't think comment is even necessary, but I'm not going to let THAT stop me! LOL!! I read some place that inside each one of us is a great "God shaped" vacuum that nothing else can fill. I believe the SPIRITUAL journey is the most important any of us will ever embark upon, therefore many hesitate at the outset. Personally, it wasn't just the beating I took in active addiction, THAT just prepared me. It was that inner knowing that there HAD to be something more to life than just the world I can see. This is what I love about 12 step spirituality: it encourages me to ask my own questions, to seek my own answers of the universe, and to find those spiritual solutions that WORK for me. The book says, "Our program is a set of spiritual principles written so simply that we can follow them in our daily lives. The most important thing about them is that they WORK." Ours is truly an EXPERIENTIAL recovery. Good luck on your journey and I hope to see you...on the Road.

Great post Anthony~!

This is definately a spiritual journey that we embark upon, and for that I'm truly grateful because that's the only thing I've ever found to bring me peace~!

Love and Hugs~!
