An Old timer shares !!!

Hi all,,, Bo Sewell recently celebrated 34 years cleanand had this to share with a friend of mine !!

Our emotions may talk to us loudly and convincingly but they do not always tell us the truth. And if we base our lives on what our emotions tell us, we may find years and years later that we have lived a lie because we did not slow down enough to really check out what we were doing and why we were doing it. This affects family life, friends, child rearing, work and certainly our emotional life. It does not mean we are bad people, we just havent been taught to double check out reasons for what we do and the price we pay for our choices. We may find that we avoid, criticize, sabotage and dislike a person who has done nothing but try to help us. Our life becomes a nightmare on slow boil. We may feel powerful, active and directed in our living when we are only turning in slow circles avoiding a central point that keeps coming up. What are you afraid of? Is facing what you are afraid of worse than living in fear or submitting to limitations based on a lie?

We may admire strength of character in others yet never develop the side of our nature that reflects honesty in living and focus on goals we really care about. Whatever the reason is, if you are reading this, you have a chance to break out of the trap. Just begin where ever you can to tell people the truth about your feelings and amend any errors that happen along the way.

No one ever tells us that life responds to us whether we know it or not. If life perceives us as afraid to tell the truth about ourselves, it reacts to our disability. We dont get the job, the relationship or the joy of living free. The be unafraid, we carry something inside that shows up in all the rest of our living. To start with, we realize the center of our consciousness is a witness. It is somehow connected with all that is. When we lose our focus on this center, our lives reflect uncertainty and confusion. When we slow down enough to remember who we are and what we really want to do, many of our problems fade away due to lack of interest. When we are fearful and desperate, we make poor  choices and wind up with a mess on our hands. We may blame others for the results of our poor choices, but even if others took advantage of us or pulled us into their insanity, we may find where we could have been somewhere else the day of the disaster!

If we have weak character or are easily influenced by the choices of others or let others take charge or our decisions, we eventually have to learn that our time alone is our only chance to take charge of our lives. Even if we make mistakes on our own, we still learn and grow from our experience. The purpose of human life is to find the reality behind the scenes and stick with that reality as best we can.

Thanks Raman, Bo is incredible. He was one of the writers of our Basic Text and one of the founders of NAWOL. He has just celebrated 32 years. He's a great guy. We live by example.

I think Bo S is also one of the contributors to the NA literature "NA Way Of Life", an extensive compendium for any addict in NA dealing with all areas of our lives. Through reading this literature, I have gained a lot as to how to use the NA program while dealing with issues like employment, relationships, chronic illness, service, society etc...

I have also read many of his posts from the other NA online forum that I'm a part of, a lot of wisdom in this 34-year old soul of NA smile.gif

The firsy paragraph where he discuss's slowing down and living in a lie is one of my fears, I TRY to slow down I TRY to meditate on where I am at and what I am doing and all thats going on and I TRY to be honest about how I feel about all these things , but theres a wall I find myself up against and that wall is time, taking time to slow it all down put things in perspective, open my mind up.

It comes to me in time, a few days a month a year thoughts surface with answers, maybe this is in Gods time that i gain some wisdom, maybe just experiencing life fully and going threw the process's and the journey taking each day and step one at a time.

Now i've lost my train of thought LOL see,,, the WALL......

I hear you Raman,
There are 'things' that you cannot change. You've just have to let go and accept them as they are, or simply suffer.
Be blessed.
