hey Raman, great post. It's very important for us recovering peoples to learn to be positive. I feel some times that I'm naturally negtively charged and it's my job to convert that to positive energy thru gratitude and spirituality, and of course Honesty. Why don't put a video of you playing sax on youtube and post the link. I'd like to see that.
sure Dean,,thanks for the suggestion,,, In going to rec. something like "What a wonderful World " and post it. Thats a song I really like for the positiveness and hope that it generates. As also being one the the biggest of hits from the father of modern jazz=SATCHMO.
Last nite I had another great show,,, the music was appreciated by all at the party of about 150. the money was good. My learning senses were alos well turned on. I believe I let my other artistes do their thing without being jealous. I think the "sharing attitude" really goes a long way in not only making it a successful show but also me maintaining my Serenity. Seems like when Im doing the right thing Im Serene. and that in turn is what keeps me clean,, and tho irritations and intrusions into my Serenity did come along,, they were gone as fast as i became aware and let it go. Then the chat with J on skype was a realy icing on the cake,,,oh what a little love for my woman can do for an addict like me,,, Thanks God for the 12 Steps,,, I will look to this day !!

I love that song and Louis. I'm very envious, I'd love to be able to play sax, guitar, and piano but I'm not willing to invest the time. So I enjoy watching others. One of my favorite sax players is Richard Elliot. I've also seen Tom Scott (and the LA Express), the Nevielle brothers, the E street band, and too many to list. Sax players rule! as far as I'm concerned. It's good work that you're doing making people joyful. Music heals and inspires love. I'm looking forward to seeing you're video Raman.
Im really greatful for the music in my life,, I had a good set this evening too. Playing in a hotel has its rewards,,, and minuses. Rewards are money,food,reference. Minus are the wine and dine scene where everyones there to do the wine and the food. Ive sometimes asked myself wht I,, a recoverind addict am doing there and does it constitute a return to an old playground ? Well,,, Im going to study my masters in event management shortly and this includes hospitality and conferences. This setting at the hotel is a perfect laboratory situation wher I can experiment,observe and infer with my own show and how I get people to like my music, and also do what music they like If i can. Im ok when people are drinking and Im not,,,I remember who I am and in no way does their drinking affect me. Im ot saying Im not vulnerable but thsi Program has taught em to take appropriate risks.
The cahllenge basically is that I have to play my music to people who are essentially strangers,, and then develop a connection with them,,ispite of em having wine glasses and all in their hands and also talking of such like. I try and remember that it is I who am an addictive personality and it is I who has to abstain form all drugs,, including alcohol and wine etc. in order to recover. So I just go ther,play my music,be part of the team there with the cooks,stewards and helpers and then be sociable with the clientile. Mots of all I get to play my sax a lot and develop my own style and expression,,, thanks for letting em share,,I need yall in my recovery each and every day of my life and this day too.

This day was great,,, man am i growing up. I dont see envy and anger control me that much anymore. Fulld ay on Sunday too. Time with my daughter well spent, ma is cool too. Then did a jazz set at a cafe,, sometimes this sure beats playing to halls where theres people drinking. But obviously the money aint so good at a cafe,, but what the heck ?? I had a dear friend click me up a lot,,,many good photos. the guy was very encouraging of my playing today !! Some times I can get very self concious and it helps when someone appreciates. All said and done I try to focus on the music we are playing rather than the personalities involved. What will an addict like me do without 12 Steps ??
