this is something that i have to read in the hospital. this is just something that i thought you guys could give me insight on it.
THE EIGHT PRINCIPLES OF THE PATHWAY TO SOBRIETY RECOVERY PROGRAM
1.) first principle-admitting to the problem-we admit we have abused or have been addicted to alcohol or the drugs. we have stopped using all noprescribed drugs including alcohol and now accept responsibility for our addiction.
2)second principle-making recovery choices-we understand that our environment can either support our recovery or work against it. whenever possible we choose people places and things that sujpport our recovery.
3)third principle-recognizing that the use of alcohol or other drugs is never justified-as people recovering from addiction we now know we can never justify using alcohol or other drugs or other addictive behaviors to change how we feel.
4)fourth principle-learning new techniques-we are now learning new clean and sober techniques that help us to manage our emotions.
5)fifth principle-choosing new beliefs-we discovered that the negative beliefs and values that helped support our addiction were counterproductive now we discard those negative beliefs and values and are discovering new positive beliefs and values that support our recovery.
6)sixth principle-setting meaningful goals-when we were addicted we laked meaningful goals that reflect our new positive values and beliefs.
7)seventh principle-finding our purpose-we have discovered or have chosen to believe that our lives have a special purpose that can be fulfilled only if we remain clean and sober.
8)eighth principle-being fully committed to recovery-being fully committed to remaining abstinent from alcohol and all nonprrescribed drugs we now choose to live according to a set of beliefs values and goals that supports our recovery and to help others find their pathways to sobriety.
these things are go with the 12 steps i think. i am working very hard on stay clean and these principles help me as will as the twelve steps.
