Teen meetings in Tampa/ Clearwater area

My son is 17 & is wanting to attend a meeting for the first time. We need to find out if he can go by himself, as he is NOT wanting mom & dad to tag along with him. (not COMPLETELY comfortable with this, but trying to deal) Does anyone know if he CAN go by himself?

Hi Kelli,

The answer to your question is yes. Your son is welcome to attend any NA meeting.

The following statements are taken directly from our literature:

Anyone is welcome at an NA meeting regardless of age, race, sexual identity, creed, religion or lack of religion.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using.

ok, then does anyone know if the only 'teen' meeting is the one in Largo on Sat at 8pm? What about the meeting at the 'sponge docks' or it's called the 'dry docks'.... we were told that was a teen meeting.

Kelli,

I'm not sure there is anyone here from Florida who could provide you with detailed meeting information for that area.

Your son is welcome to attend any meeting. He can receive help from people of all ages. We all share the same disease of addiction and path through recovery regardless of age. It might be helpful for him to hear a diverse message and be exposed to long-term recovery.

All the best to him in his journey!

thanks for the encouragement. However, he went to a meeting with all ages & said he was uncomfortable there. He had been told that there are meetings that are primarily young people & he wanted to find out about that one. Can you give me any direction for who to call about this?? thanks!
