A member shares... [passing it on]

Here's a beautiful share by a member forwarded by another member to me smile.gif Sure shows how NA works, one addict's share reaching out to the innermost hearts of others wherein lies the healing for many of us... I'm passing this on too as it did affect my recovery right here right now at this very moment to read this share...

"Well, life is like swimming in the river. You climb up on the river bank to review your life and how things appear to be working out. You take time to consider your concerns and things that are important to you, especially things you have neglected. Realizing no one can do it all, you pick out a few things to work on. The Twelve Steps come in because they help us focus and find the next right thing for us at any given point. Also, while we work the Steps in order, when a situation calls of surrender, we have Step One. When we are feeling overwhelmed and unlucky, we pull out Step Two. When things are going good and we want to rush out and do stuff, we sit down with Step Four or Step Ten. Holding our resources and energy in check, we gradually build up plenty. If we find we have harmed someone, we know how to make amends and so the fear is gone. When we get sick of being ourselves, we make an inventory and throw out the garbage. We keep the stuff that makes us happy and let go of the things that make us sick. If we are thinking of something painful from the past, we mentally envision ourselves telling that person we are sorry and it will never happen again with the expectation that it will not because we don't do that anymore. Being anonymous, we can step out of our chains. When we think we know it all, we go to the Eleventh Step and recall our life lessons and proceed from there. A spiritual awakening is a blessed event. You're never the same. Your capacity to be a shit is knocked off balance. Your rush to anger or grasping after things of the world lays off. Your permanent awareness that God is in charge and doing an admirable job lets you rest in the peace of Divine Love. When you have an opportunity to do God's will, you jump  for it for it is the best in you coming out. Jump in the river... Love."
