Day one!!

I am new to this forum or any forum for that matter.  I guess i'v known for a long time that I was an addict, but never took the steps for recovery.  Well here's my first step.  I am and alcoholic/drug addict.  I think I hit bottom this weekend when my husband was out of town and I just went nuts!!  I spent sooo much money.  Money that was for bills, pissed my mother in-law off, and actually used in my house.  With my kids upstairs.  I never thought I would even bring the crap in the house, but I did.  I NEVER want this to happen again.  I have to be through with this.  I can't see my kid's go through the same thing I did.  I just need some new friends, people like you all.  People who understand where I am, and what this does to you.  I'm loosing it, mentally, and I need to find myself again. I hope i've come to the right place.

Welcome Shcoyne! I am still new in recovery myself, but for me the most important thing starting out was to find a local meeting and to get to one as soon as possible. You can use this website to find a meeting in your area:
http://portaltools.na.org/portaltools/MeetingLoc/

I relate to how your feeling right now. When I was using, one by one all the things I said I would never do, I did. This is a progressive disease that only gets worse. I'm so glad you found us, stay clean for today and get to a meeting as soon as you can
(((hugs)))

Hi Sherry, we all know where you are coming from. You are welcome. Thank you for sharing with us. Go to meetings, try to find a good rehab if possible. This will get you started on a clean life, sounds like you want to get started right now. Talk to us anytime, that helps as well. We have all been in the same pathetic hole you are in. Time to get out of it. Talk to you soon.

In Recovery Kenh.

Hi Sherry - By now, I hope and pray that you are at day three.  I know exactly how you feel.  I used to run when my husband went away on business trips.  My last night, I left my five year old with my in-laws (my mother-in-law was very ill with lung cancer at the time) and went on a run.  The next day I entered rehab, and have never looked back.

There is hope - you can break the cycle!  My life is better today than it has ever been.  And, now I am truly there for my kids, not just physically, but emotionally too!  Please make meetings, get a sponsor, find some friends in NA and keep coming back.  Life gets better - or we learn to handle it better!  I hope that this finds you well!  Take care of yourself!
