Step by step

Day by day, minute by minute we walk from the dark shadow of the valley of death into a new light with the spirit holding our hands.

Keep ahold of that spirits hand don't let go take the walk into
the newness of it all and enjoy the new smells, sounds and experiences
life has to offer.

Just hold on for today, I am hope you do too.

Hey thanks for the hope. Also something that I picked up from one of the members I was chatting with yesterday - Always be proactive in recovery! Helped me a lot to remind myself to stay grounded in the program through the basics:

Make regular meetings
Contact your Sponsor regularly
Reach out to other members thru phone or online in times of trouble
Read literature on a daily basis
Use Prayer to connect with your Higher Power
Give what you have so that you get to keep it
Work the Steps in your daily life in all areas
DON'T USE NO MATTER WHAT, COME HELL OR HIGH WATER

Every person, no matter what his or her balance for right or wrong, is a part of the Divine Plan. We are ALL children of a Higher Power, and it is unlikely that the Higher Power intends to favor one over another. So it is necessary for all of us to accept whatever positive gifts we receive with a deep humility, but at the same time, always bearing in mind that our negative attitudes were first necessary as a means of altering us to such a state that we would be ready for a gift of the positive ones through the transformation experience. Do I accept the fact that my addiction and the bottom I finally reached are the bedrock upon which my spiritual foundation rests?

May I know that from the first moment I admitted my powerlessness, I avail myself of a Power greater than my addiction. Every step taken from that moment of defeat has been a step in the right direction. The First Step is a giant step. Though it is often taken in despair, may I realize that I must be drained of hope before I can be refilled with fresh hope, sapped of willfulness before I can feel the will of God.
