Reflections.....

Hello and hugs family, I have a reflection to share with the group....here recently my local fellowship lost a dear cherished member who for years was a H&I kinda of a guy and was a GSR for a meeting in a treatment center , oh to  hear him talk about his beloved Homegroup and how he always got there early and bought cookies and the like to have set up for the members and the treatment center clients....he went back out and   he was found dead in his apt from a OD.on Feb 10th.....I was sharing about him at another place here online  and was told I shouldn;t have shared about him cuz he didn't die clean like the rest of the members on this particular part of that board ..so what is that? We don't remember or care anymore about our NA family who goes back out? That could have been any of us.........I happened to really love this guy, he was my family and he did service for our area for years so what is this now, we just forget and sweep their names and memories under a rug like they never existed? WE were all this addict had .in his life, he had no family but NA ...and true enough family takes care of family....members of ,my local fellowship raised the money needed to put our brother to rest.....and celebrated his life last Sat in a fellowship memorial .......Mark M my brother in NA, may you rest in peace...... thanks family for letting me share.....(((Hugs)))JudyO

I agree with you Judy, we need to love the ones that go out even more so they can have a chance to one day love themselves enough to come back. God bless you , I'm sorry for your loss.

Seems like the ones that judge and condemn the "relapsers" are the ones that are scared as hell that it could happen to them too !!
But they hate to acknowledge that to themselves,,,,
its like thinking
"Im too perfect to even think about relapse !!!"
The Text says
"ALL ARE EQUEAL IN RECOVERY !!!"
and then
"there are those too whose dishonesty and self deciet still prevent them enjoying complete recovery and acceptance within society !!"
This is like a choice between the devil and the deep sea ,,,,
either be dishoest and deceptive but saty clean anyways,,,
or say ""to hell with all this pretense""" and go out and use again,,
both are dangerous choices for me,,,
thank God Im restored to sanity and that I choose of myself and my own free will and volition to stay clean just for today and experience recovery via the 12 Step Tradition of Narcotics Anonymous Worldwide !!!!
AMEN !!!!

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of a loved one. I do not know all the rules and etiquette of these, nor any other recovery discussion boards, but where I'm from, weather someone is active in the disease or in recovery, we are compassionate for ANY addict who suffers. I've lost sponsorship family brothers, one by murder/suicide and 2 by overdose, it was never said "we cant discuss nor feel compassion for them" because if someone dared told me that, I'd have walked out and never returned. Yes we were saddened that they found it necessary to use and I suppose we even went as far to use their ultimate fate as a reminder to just how serious our disease is, but we never stiffel nor forget their memory.

Judy, sorry for the loss of your loved friend {{{hugs}}}

(((((Judy O))))) Thank you so much for sharing Mark M's life & recovery with us. Glad you did.

My ex-sponsor used to say that God's love for us doesn't diminish an inch just because we relapsed or if we are using, and so does the spirit of NA.
