narcolepsy is a disruption of the sleep/ wake cycle with rem sleep disturbed. It's a neurological, no cure, no known cause, sleep disorder. The main symptom is falling asleep during the day. The problem is it's hard to do routine tasks like drive, work, school ect.. It can be managed with medication mostly stimulants-(not great for addicts )& behavior modification .It's also rare.thanks for asking- artemis
Thank you, Artemis. It must be tough to be a narcoleptic I must admit. I also have tourette's (facial and body tics mainly) apart from also having a sleep disorder. But today, all the symptoms that were so prevalent and crippling while active addiction have comparatively subsided to a large extent in my recovery. My manic depressive disorder and a considerable part of social anxiety has vanished miraculously, and I expect more recovery and freedom from these co-existing problems as I stay clean longer and longer, and work my daily program of recovery that is bringing about many lifestyle changes in my life everyday. I realize that these other problems increased in their intensity and debilitation more so when I was using, and when I stay clean, they slowly fade away... I'm sure, you and Jay would also experience this, in God's own time
Jay must be lucky to have you as his mother
thanks for sharing Jay's journey of recovery with us,
Prayers, blessings and peace,
Tahir.
