Hello (MIP NA going forward)

Checking in and seeing the activity. I concur with Dave R (IF HE CAN) and Mike M wants to be part of the transistion team.I vote yes on that.I missed meeting but will try and make one on 22nd.Yes questions about how to maintain board, cost, etc will need to be pursued. In continued support and prayer for John F. ACTIVITY ON THIS bOARD HAS NEVER BEEN OVERWHELMING SINCE I HAVE BEEN HERE SINCE 2009.At one point in earlier years there was quite a bit of discussion)Manon,Raman,Big V,Dean ETC,,,LAST FEW YEARS like DAVE SAYS many just looking for info and WE are able to offer suggestions..May God's will be done with this board...

Hello

Yes we've had a lot of drop outs, I hope they are doing OK. The boards have value to me, I hope we can keep them going. A second to all nominations!

RE: Hello (MIP NA going forward)

If MIP NA continues under committee control there are some things that drastically need updating. Most noticeably the NA Home Page, just click above to land on it and you'll see what I mean! To my knowledge in the 6 years I've been here there hasn't been single business meeting (supposed last Sunday of every month) and worse not a single "online Meeting" even though the Home Page lists 3 a week. The Meetings not happening is a rather common newbie post in the message board.

I propose we actually schedule an NA MIP business meeting this coming Saturday afternoon/evening or Sunday morning before I attend the next scheduled MIPS Overall committee online meeting next Sunday 6pm EST.

Choice 1: Saturday 6pm EST

Choice 2: Sunday 1pm EST (2 hours BEFORE the 1st Divisional Playoff game, I couldn't get the full MIP meeting changed to not be in the middle of a game grrr...)

Feedback much appreciated. I AM NOT a Group Conscience!

That said are we really The Miracles In Progress Group of NA? That's what the Home Page calls this place. But are we?

Narcotics Anonymous group is any meeting of two or more recovering addicts who meet regularly at a specific time and place for the purpose of recovery from the disease of addiction.

We most assuredly currently are an NA focused message board. But a Group? I don't think so. No actual meeting in the over 6 years that I've been here let alone regular scheduled meetings. We could be IF we choose to do what it takes to have at least one person committed to Chair each of even one monthly scheduled meeting. At least one a week would be much better and seems what remote newbies are looking for, the message of Recovery shared online. Do we have enough people willing to make a commitment to be a viable online Group?

Personally I feel this needs to be addressed before/in conjunction with "saving" the MIP NA site.

I would be willing to commit to one meeting a month (for a minimum of a year) if others will step up and commit so we can have one regularly scheduled meeting per week and be a viable online NA Group carrying the message. Otherwise what's the point?

I can make it on Sat 6pm. What does this involve? A conference call?

Initially we'll just meet in the Meeting/Chat room. If we feel the need to go phone/voice we'll figure it out then. See you this Saturday 6pm EST.

Hi All,

After much soul searching, deliberation, research and prayer I've decided not to be involved in a committee saving John's legacy. I could elaborate but won't unless asked.

Hey guys i want to thank all of you who have served here and helped the site and me so much. last year i had to deal with my home group shutting down and its been difficult to reestablish a home group, i kind of have one but its not the same even though many of my home group people go there. Its a good group lots of newbies come in needing support and lots of old timers there and in between.

So i know about letting go, as I see it there's so many other groups online that are very popular  there to help, I see no reason to continue this site.

Honestly its always been very difficult keeping this going, when we did try years back to get the chat room going i spent a lot of time just figuring out the chatroom software, it was unreal and difficult, just so we could have someone there to monitor and have what i called the "hammer" in case some goofball got in there and tried taking over LOL and it happened sometimes. I think we may have had 20 people in the room at one meeting so it never got really popular and often peoples commitments where difficult for them to keep so i finally gave that up.

Anyhoo I'm sorry to see it go but thats life and that's death, full circle of life. This has been really good for my recovery, coming up on 9 years I think in July the first few years i needed this,i needed as much interation and a place for help asi could get and several folks were here for me in some trying times. It take effort to find and get help got to really wanna stay clean to stay clean :)

Ok so special thanks to Dave for sharing morning reflections for so long, Mike and mike for sharing often, Davethewave for sharing, you guys are the hanger onners :) Love you guys and please keepmy contact info if you ever need me. I do occasionally hear from a guy who came here a few years back who's stayed clean I was so glad to hear back from him, so its hasnt been a BUST :)

I guess i'll say goodbye to you guys and wish the very best on this life journey we're on together, andthanks for voting Trump hehehehehehehehe,,,BLESSINGS

HEY VIN!

It has been a blessing sharing our recovery on MIP with each other and others who have come and gone. I still keep in contact with Raman(he has a recovery blog on FACEBOOK,I check in everyday to read and share when I feel time  to carry the message of recovery ,a day at a time and from my own evidence in the solution. I agree Davethe wave,MikeM, DAVE R(thanks for morning posts)and a few others have been integral to the site..Vin you have worked very hard also through the years and have always chimed in with your own evidence of daily recovery reaching out in a respectful manner..There were some trying times  with some participants back in the days of Manon and StPete(Dean) etc) With the God of our own understandings we will continue to do the daily work and pass it forward whenever we can..In prayer and support for all who have passed through this realm and we'll hope to see you in others..Peace Brothers and sistas!!WE are responsible for our own recoveries and WE find a way to remain free of active addiction a day at a time, through days, weeks, months years ,decades etc staying stuck in the SOLUTION(application of the STEPS,GUIDED BY OUR individual Higher Powers in all areas of our lives......Thank you for all the help I have received through the years from everyone...Our journey continues,,,in support and prayer as always.. I'll continue to check in until it is no more..Peace on this blessed journey of LIFE ....smilesmile

I'm listening to Bob Marley's Redemption Songs as I review this.

A sad day, but part/sign of the times. I'm on a fishing web site that's lost many members to face book, group me, and other sites. Things change and MIP hung in there for a long time.

Songs of Freedom. May your life be full of them.

FWIW I even just finished the chair training so I officially like be certifiable and will be chairing the Sunday 3pm EST meetings.

Hello. This is Kis from the Al-Anon group, one of the transition team reps. Just got news that John passed today. I didn't see it mentioned on your board so wanted to let you know. Please keep us informed of what your group wants to do in going forward (or not going forward). Best wishes.

BigV I was very fortunate to have found T.O.R.S. trans oral robotic surgery to remove my tongue tumor, and a separate surgery to remove lymph nodes on my neck.
Got to Skip Chemo and Rad, so no feeding tubes, no collateral damages. Sadly the surgical procedure that I had is not widely available or talked about by ENT's or Primary care,
or even Cancer treatment centers. I went to Moffit in Tampa, looking for a surgical solution and they told me there wasn't any. :( Good thing I'm a rebel and don't take no for an
answer lol.
