New Member looking for guidance

Hi,

I am a new member who is looking to start a journey to living a clean lifestyle. I started using pain killers recreationally 5-6 years ago and over the years slowly but gradually increased usage as they became more easily accessible. Over the last year I have found that my life has become really stressful & most of it has to do with the addiction that has grown over the years. I have been clean for a week and would like to keep it that way so I am looking for advice on how to be successful.

I quit using chewing tobacco almost 3 years ago by use a message board similar to this one so I am hoping this is the first step in the right direction.

Thanks to anyone that can help!

Hi Jarad,

You can recover, and we recommend trying the 12 steps and traditions of Narcotics Anonymous.

All you have to do is go to meetings, get the basic text (blue book), find a sponsor, and work the steps.

If you have gotten this far, give yourself a break and just try this for a while.Welcome to Miracles in Progress!!

Going to meetings where you live is a good first step.
